Development: Demolition of existing buildings and erection of A1 discount foodstore
Mango secured full planning permission for the demolition of existing buildings and the erection of a discount foodstore on the site of a former garage in Yeovil. Following extensive negotiation and discussions with planning officers, the application was presented to Planning Committee with a recommendation to refuse the application. The recommendation was based on a perception that the proposal would prevent town centre redevelopment sites from coming forward. Members agreed with submissions from our team that the proposal was appropriate and complied with retail policy tests and overturned the recommendation.
The store will be operated by Aldi and is due to open at the end of 2019.
